very much a screening

IIGHT SO BOOM,

i met Khalil McFarlene during his solo exhibit at Aye Space For Us. it was right after Maryland's insane ice/snow storm and I shoveled myself justttttt enough out of my driveway to head to Baltimore for a staycation. my first time visiting Mama Koko's, so i decided to walk around the brownstone and made my way right into his art exhibit. the room was empty at first but after a few moments of exploring the works on display, he came in and pointed out an intricacy in an image that was his favorite part of the piece. Khalil proceeded to walk me and Illicit Rag Vintage owner, Danny (only realized who she was the next day after my friends kept telling me about a dope vintage shop in Baltimore - shooketh), through the exhibit, asking us questions as we viewed his creations and grounding it all in the love and appreciation of Black culture. i was so floored, i took my friends the VERY next day because it was so Black and so Baltimore, and they needed to bear witness too. from then, i knew that i knew that i knew, Khalil had to be on the podcast. we brainstormed the episode concept and landed on dope concept of creating a live piece while I asked him question after question about his journey into actualizing his artistry and so much more. join us at the episode screening where there will be:

  • light refreshments
  • be the first to watch the new episode
  • q&a with Khalil
  • connect with fellow creatives
